582 Squadron was a Pathfinder Squadron of the RAF. It was based at Little Staugton Huntingshire. The Squadron was formed with Avro Lancasters on April 1st 1944 and was disbanded on 10th September 1945.

A lot of brave decorated airmen died that day. The plane took of from Little Staughton at 3.03am and it's task was to bomb coastal batteries on the French coast. This was no doubt part of the build up for the Landings of D-Day. He thus was entitled to the France and Germany Bar for the Aircrew Europe Star by a matter of a few hours. The aircraft was lost without trace. Further research to carry out. A fine “D” Day KIA Group. £3200.

MC/BWM/VIC. to Lt. I M Rhind 2nd Lt. 1st Seaforth Highlanders Lt. Spec. Res. 5th Cameron Highlanders MC unnamed as issued, BWM 2. LIEUT I M RHIND, Vic Erased. There is only one officer of this name & initials on the MIC’s And only one with the MC. LG 08/03/1919. Excellent citation “For outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty when temporarily commanding his company during operations east of the Passchendale Ridge in an attack on the village of Slyscappel on the 29th September 1918. He led a frontal attack on the village, and, in spite of severe opposition, succeeded in out maneuvering the defence and overcoming the enemy with very slight loss to his company. Copy LG’s & MIC Ian Mitchell. To France 09/08/1918 only entitled to pair. Swing mounted on a Spinks suspender with original ribbons. £850.

MM. GV to 24824 Cpl J Kenyon 1st/4th Bn Kings Own (Royal Lancaster Reg). DOW 08/06/1918 F & F. MM LG 13/11/1918. Probably for the action in which he was wounded/died. Entitled Pair & Plaque. Copy Service papers, MIC, LG, Scroll, CWGC, Soldiers Died paperwork. £650.

MM GV to 57717 Pte 4th Yorks & Lancs also 37985 Cpl West Yorks & 3508 Pte 6th Btn Northumberland Fusiliers. Wounded GSW right elbow. The MM was gazetted 23/07/1919. The medal comes with copies of the MIC, 1901 census & 27 pages of Service Details. He is entitled to a Pair & SWB number B221977. £395.

QSA clasps Laings Nek & Transvaal  KSA clasps SA1901 & SA 1902 to 5896 Pte G A Edwards Rl Lanc Reg. The medals come complete with service details confirming medals & clasps. £325.

Attested: - 41st Foot No.3643, Term: - 10 years 6/12 months, At: - Longford 11.00am, On: - 23rd Oct 1854. Comes complete with service record and medical discharge details loss of arm and confirmation of the three wounds gazetted in trenches at Sebastopol. Slight Wound Minor actions at Sebastopol 05 July 1855, Also Severe Wounds,29 July 1855 & 10 August 1855.£345.

GV Kings Medals LCC Clasp 1912-1913 with top bar LLC named to F Palmer, GV Special Constabulary Long Service Medal named to Sjt Frank H Palmer, 12 Drill competition Medals. 9 round silver (hallmarked) 1 shield (hallmarked) 2 round gold (hallmarked) all stamped on the outer Special Constabulary Reserve, with blue & white enamelled centres. All with makers name Fatterori Birmingham. 5 W&Z dated on the reverse 1930,1931,9132,9133,1935 Member winning team. 15052 Pte F Palmer enlisted in the 2nd Btn Royal Fusiliers & he is entitled to a DCM & 1914/15 Trio. After the war he joined the special & became their drill instructor for which he was presented with the gold medals as best instructor & the silver as a winning team member 1942-1935. A must for any Special Constabulary collector. £350.
