RRC Group of 4

RRC 2nd Class GV, 1914/15 Trio to Nurse A M Newth South African Military Nusing Service. The RRC was awarded LG 22nd August 1918. His Majesty the King has been graciously please to Award the Royal Red Cross to the under mentioned ladies of the Nursing Services in recognition of their valuable services in the campaign in the German South-West Africa. The group comes with the original box for the RRC & a copy of the LG & service paperwork. EF 4 £750.

 GV DSO with original ribbon bar and pin GVR, In silver-gilt and enamel in original Garrard case of issue. A couple of slight flakes to enamel but does not detract from the quality. NEF  £985

DSO GV unnamed as issued, BWM & Victory Medals (with MID Emblem. to Major T H H Carter, Defence Medal unnamed as issued, GVI SCLSM with clasp Long Service 1947 named to Thomas T H H Carter, Major Carter served with the 5th Btn Royal Warwickshire Regiment. The group comes with various paperwork including Commission Document, MID Certificate, Demobilisation Certificate, Buckingham Palace Telegram etc. DSO for Gallantry. £2500.

A GV DSO named on the reverse of the suspender to 2nd Lt G F Stuart. There is only one 2nd Lt G F Stuart & that is Gerald Fitzgerald Stuart 5th Btn West Yorks who was awarded the DSO LG 04th February 1918. He is only entitled to the DSO & Pair. The medal comes complete with box of issue copy of the LG & MIC. £1200.  

MC GV named on reverse Captain C Harris RA, DCM Victorian named to 2481 Sjt C B Harris RHA,  QSA 7 Clasps 2481 Sjt C B Harris Q Batt RHA,  1914 Star named to Lt C Harris RA, BWM & Victory Medals (MID) named to Major C Harris, Coronation 1911 named to RSM RHA, Army GV LS&GC named Sjt Major RHA, Defence Medal 1939-45 unnamed as issued, Sgt/RSM/Major C Harris “Q” Bty Royal Horse Artillery & RA. Four Victoria Crosses Awarded for the Battle of Sanna’s Post 25 May 1901. There was a ballot for the 4 VC's for the action at Sanna’s Post when the Officers & NCOs selected one each & the other ranks (gunners/drivers) selected two to be awarded the Victoria Cross, DCM LG 27/09/1901, MC LG 03/06/1916. MID LG 10/09/1901 & LG 14/09/1917. Some history/research, MIC, LG (MC) photo of him in uniform wearing his medals.

MC GV unnamed as issued. 1914/15 Star Lieut E J Whitson HLI, BWM & Victory Medals (with MID) to Capt E J Whitson. There is also a coin with the group named on the reverse to Lt E J Whitson Glasgow Highlanders. The MC was awarded LG & the MID LG 20/12/1918. £1650.

MM GV named to 7424 Sjt H Blackburn 2/KRRC, 1914 Star Bar Trio named to Pte/Sjt H Blackbourn KRRC (note spelling different to MM however it is the same man). He first entered F&F 30/08/1914. The MM was awarded LG 07/10/1918. The medals come complete with copies of the MIC & the LG for the MM.  £950.

BWM, Victory & RAF GV MSM to 8719 Pte 1 F W FRIDAY.  MSM LG 01/01/1919 Page 79. He joined the Royal Flying Corps as a motor cyclist, this being his civilian trade. Promoted to AM1 on 1st Oct 1916, transferring to the RAF on its formation 1st April 1918 as Pte 1st Class. Paperwork served No21 Sqn. Then HQ Royal Flying Corps, HQ No1 Aircraft Depot & finally HQ RAF. Rare MSM to RFC/RAF. £750.

WW2 Gallantry.     

An outstanding DSM, BEM group of 9. DSM GVI to CPO C H Reeves D/JX 128125, BEM Military to CPO Cecil  H Reeves DSM D/JX 128125, NGSM GVI clasp Palestine 1936-39 to DSM D/JX 128125 C H Reeves A/LS RN, 1939/45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, WW2 War Medal & a 1937 Jubilee Medal. The DSM was awarded LG 19th May 1944 & the citation is a follows, The King has been graciously pleased to award you the Distinguished Service Medal for leadership & outstanding courage and skill shown in H M S Palomares in operations which led to successful landings at Salerno in September 1943, the BEM was awarded LG 9th June 1949. The medals come with paperwork which includes an original letter telling C P O Reeves of the award of the DSM, original Buckingham Palace slip to C P O Reeves saying the King is unable to present the BEM personally, original Buckingham Palace issue slip for the 1937 Coronation, photo copies of paperwork outlying details of the landings at Salerno, photo copies of paperwork outlying details of the award of the BEM, a photo copy of a local newspaper detailing the award of the DSM, copies of the LG for both the DSM & BEM.    £2600

Northumberland and Newcastle Yeomanry

Bronze, no suspender. Presented by Lt. Col. Brandling to Capt C Dixon in recognition of valuable services rendered in connection with the re - organization of the regiment Jan - March 1820. Only one known to be in existence dies in Yeomanry / Hussars museum in Newcastle upon Tyne. (EF) (1)   £220
